Benjamin Franklin designed the official copper penny authorized by the Continental Congress in 1787. Known as the Fugio cent – “Fugio” in Latin translates to “fly” or “flee”.
Franklin’s coins were key to helping the economy grow. Bill of Rights Trust honors our forefather Ben Franklin for his numerous contributions to the founding of this country by issuing our replica of his Fugio design. One of our favorite Ben Franklin quotes: “He is ill clothed that is bare of virtue.”
